What I was doing was… More exploring of the world of my screenplay this rainy morning, in particular the essential qualities of the world my characters might live in. I wrote a bunch of interesting ‘what if’ ideas about rules that could effect the way characters act or experience reality. I exploded the qualities I described yesterday by asking myself one simple question: what is the most version of this?
What I was doing was… Simply spending 15 minutes free writing to explore the world of my screenplay. Ended up writing about tome and the nature of the heightened reality of the story based on turning up the dials on things from my own experience. What I was doing was… Reviewing the remaining bits of feedback on my play draft today, looking over notes and listening back to the recording of the conversation. I now have a looooooong list of feedback points and the questions they raise for me and some thoughts about the next step in the process. What I was doing was… Reading back the first draft of m’play and sifting through the feedback I’ve had to see where it’s at, where I want it to go in the next draft and so what I will need to work on. Read the play, took some notes, the most of the way through the feedback and took loads more notes, all now amassed in a sprawling spreadsheet. I
What I was doing was… Spent an hour exploring character and world for my screenplay (despite getting to it late in the day and feeling like I CAN’T BE ARSED). Found out some family and childhood related stuff about my main character. Broke it into two half hour chunks and used a phone timer to make it more manageable (aren’t you proud Writers’ HQ?????) Feeling a bit tired but glad
