Jo Gatford is a writer from Brighton who wants to live on your bookshelf. Since winning a publishing contract for her debut novel ‘White Lies’, Jo has won awards for short her short stories and has begun working on a second novel. Feeling a lack of accessible writing groups, Jo joined forces with fellow writer and Brighton writing retreat founder Sarah Lewis, to create Writers’ HQ, providing the writing retreats and courses it turns out others need too. We hit: self belief (even if it’s just enough to learn how to improve), thickening your skin through short and flash fiction working and submissions, the guilt people feel about enabling themselves to do something creative, fostering people’s excitement to write, and the teacher who took the time to help a young Jo go through her Star Wars-inspired novel.
